The Outreach Ministry Leader provides visionary, strategic, innovative, pastoral leadership for community engagement ministries and has a love for people, serving others and encouraging others to serve.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cottage Grove Staff Member
- Strive to embody the Staff Marks (see above) in their personal & professional life.
- Work and participate alongside the staff in accomplishing the ministry tasks at Cottage Grove.
- Develop an annual departmental budget and manage spending to budget
Outreach Ministry Leader
Overflow
- Inspire volunteers to serve and build relationships with people who come to Overflow
- Manage the operations for the house which includes but is not limited to cleaning, inventory management, clothing closet, etc…
- Expand Overflow into the upstairs portion of the house and into more day in the week
- Equip, disciple and help leaders to grow in loving their neighbors
Community Engagement
- Equipping & educating our church in how we can do mercy & justice within the city of Des Moines.
- Create and execute ministry opportunities for congregants to engage with our neighborhood and city.
- Develop relationships in the city to foster trust between church & community.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive evangelism ministry strategy to win people for Jesus Christ.
- Inspire and equip our church community in valuing personal and corporate evangelism for the Kingdom of God.
- Champion our partnership with Teammates and Edmunds by serving and continuing to create serving opportunities

- Cultivate a culture of hospitality which will be exemplified by…
- Creating new community engagement opportunities focused on reaching the unchurched and making disciples of all nations.
- Engaging the gifts and experiences of Cottage Grove congregants and leading them toward volunteer opportunities.
- Empower volunteers to plan, prepare, & execute community engagement events by establishing clear marks of success and empowering them to achieve those marks.
Benevolence
- Coordinate the execution of the benevolence ministry at Cottage Grove Church.
- Work with Pastoral team to develop a strategy around what to bless financially, own and who to partner with
Community Liaison
- Develop a deep understanding of the history, culture, rhythms, & needs of Des Moines.
- Network with other institutions & organizations in the city who are pursuing mercy & justice
